Senior Spotlight: Wayne Jackson

Senior basketball player Wayne Jackson is enjoying his final weeks here at UAFS and is departing the school with many accomplishments. With fifteen years of experience in his sport, you could call him an expert. If Wayne’s slam dunks weren’t intimidating enough, his speed and coordination got the best of many rivals.
Wayne explains that success is having a reachable goal and taking those steps to completing it. Playing college sports isn’t easy because of absences and all the time put forth. His biggest challenge at UAFS was getting his work done and turned in on time regardless of all the travelling.
Wayne chose UAFS because of the campus and the friendly people. The thing he will miss the most about college is the freedom of being a student because after graduation comes the duty to get a job, which takes up a lot of time.
Some of the best advice Wayne has been given is “success if the best revenge.” Wayne is leaving the university in May with his Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership, which he thinks is his biggest accomplishment so far. Student always comes before the athlete and he has accomplished his education which is the primary goal for all student athletes.
Wayne hopes to get signed with a team in the states or overseas but if it doesn’t work out he plans to get a job back at home in Tulsa. He lives by the motto “go hard or go home” and through his success at UAFS, you can tell he has lived what he preached. Wayne has a long and bright future ahead of him. Future student athletes can learn from Wayne through his hard work, abilities, and time management.
