In 2002, Westark College became the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith – a transformation that has sparked many changes as the institution continues to transition from community college to university. In fall 2009, that transition continues to bring change to campus, and while the UA Fort Smith administration is carefully executing its plans, the breadth and focus of the changes are not always noticeable. . .
The most easily visible change on campus is the construction of new student housing at the west corner of Waldron and Kinkead. When completed in summer 2010, the residence hall will house over 440 students and will sit next to a cafeteria-style dining hall.
The old University of Arkansas - Fort Smith student identification card was, at best, bland, but when the university changed it they wanted more than an aesthetically pleasing ID card. Functionality, on and off the campus, was key, and UA Fort Smith established this by implementing Lions Cash.
Would you believe paying for printing is also a way of going green and saving our planet? Some students have expressed confusion about why the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith began charging for printing this semester.
